Hall Component Failed of Inductive Sensor

Q: I am having problems. The signaling disc of the 4 station tool post has failed. One position is no longer working. The other three are OK. When I check the voltage at the signaling disc's 4 positions I get 16V each. When the positioning magnet gets near to each position the position opens and the voltage drops to about 0V. When the magnet gets close to the failed position the voltage does not drop which means the internal switch in that position has failed. If I take a strong magnet and put it right up against the failed position then the switch opens and the voltage drops. If I move the magnet just 2 mm away the switch closes again. Please remember that I have 1/4 watt resistors on each position.

A: The HALL component inside was burnt, it is not fixable, we need to replace it with a new one.

Q: what is causing these failures. Do I have to change something?

A:The sensor is a wear part, after some working time it will broken and it is not avoidable. That is why we suggest keeping some spare parts for replacement.
